The greatest messages I picked up are as follows:

Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. You need to get the fundamentals down because otherwise the fancy stuff isn’t going to work.

When you are doing something wrong and no one is bothering to tell you, that is a really bad place to be.  You don’t want the critics to give up on you. The critics are the ones who show they still love and care about you.

Brick walls are there for a reason, they are to show how badly we want something. They only stop people who do not want it badly enough.

It’s cool to meet your boyhood idol. It’s even cooler when he comes to you to see what cool stuff you’re doing in your life.

Ladies, when it comes to men who are romantically interested in you, just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do.

When people give you feedback, cheerish it and use it.

Don’t complain but just work harder.

There may be something holding you back. Fears, anxiety, lack of knowledge and role models, no money  and so on, and more excuses. You’re saying you can’t do it? Probably you’re right – you can’t. But a winner can do it.

Sarah Brown, Prime Minister’s wife recently joined Twitter and uses her position to help to stop the unnecessary deaths of mothers and pregnant women. She speaks on behalf of the charity Million Mums who supports suffering women by providing health care to those in need. Go to their website and pass on the message!

Sir Richard Branson, the well-known English entrepreneur for his mega company Virgin. Just to mention the most famous brands – Active (gyms), Atlantic (airline), Trains, Mobile, Media, Books, Balloon Flights and many more. He has also Virgin Unite, as they say on the website, ‘the non-for-profit entrepreneurial foundation of the Virgin Group’. There are several different projects e.g. helping with advice to grow social businesses, supporting African entrepreneurs. Get involved and make a difference!

The Prince of Wales, Charles Philip Arthur George, heir to the throne, has started a few initiatives all under the name ‘The Prince’s Charities‘. The organisation actively helps and supports people in fields like education, business for young people and health. You have probably seen Duchy Originals somewhere on supermarkets shelves – cookies made from organicaly grown products. They are really tasty! And all the profit goes back into charity.

There are hundreds of charities out there helping people, animals and the earth. Choose one most suitable to you. Go on, do something meaningful!

2 Oscars, a BAFTA and the Independent Spirit Award – to name his greatest awards.

Born in a small village in Poland behind the Iron Curtain, he was fascinated with cinema since his childhood. When martial law was imposed in Poland in 1981 Kaminski, being on holiday in Greece at the time decided not to go back.  He immigrated to the USA at the age of 22.

He’s created some of the most memorable images in the cinema. Ambition, frustration and the appalling vision of life working in a factory gave him the motivation to make his dreams come true.

His first dreams when coming to the USA?
To own a a pair of blue jeans, a rarity in communistic Poland, and for many young people at the time a symbol of freedom.

Did he speak English when coming to the States?
Just a little, but quickly took up a language course.

What were his first jobs?
Firstly as a machine operator – fired, then as a warehouse worker – also fired.

When did he start on his way to a career in Hollywood?
He decided to take up studies in a film program at Colombia College, and went on to receive a masters degree at the American Film Institute Conservatory. While studying he was building up a good CV.

How did he meet Steven Spielberg?
Spielberg saw one of his movies and asked if Kaminski would like to work on a movie together. Soon after that he won Oscar for Schindler’s List.
