The Mother Earth calling – Native Spirit Festival in London
Art — By Ana on November 5, 2009 at 9:32 amHuman origins in a global world.
Globalization builds up a new global village and London is the proof of it, mixing in the maze of streets over 1000 accents. However, people have generated a reaction to the global process, based on the love of one’s country and of nature. In fact, this feeling is the seed of the Native Spirit Festival, created to remember the origins of human being.
The perspective and traditions of indigenous cultures are shown in several documentaries recorded in several places, from Canada to Peru. And it is in Peru where the organization began four years ago, founded by Freddy Treuquil – an artist from Mapuche tribe.
As Freddy Treuquil said: “For this people, nature is not something to exploit, it is the Mother Earth. And who would not respect his own mother?”
This is the third year Native Spirit Festival celebrates the cinematic event, seeking to get across to the public the importance of the past to build a common future without losing their way. The festival is running until this Friday in 16 mm Café, in Soho.
