However you spend it, whether going to the church, having family time, going for a short break or maybe spending this time in your own traditional way – enjoy it!
When far away from family and friends sometimes we tend to forget about our traditions. Let’s do more than just buying lots of easter chocolate eggs! I encourage everyone to maintain your heritage. It’s a great time to share our culture and diversity. Let’s do:
- pisanki/pysanky – a special Eastern European way of painting eggs;
- English simnel cake, Finnish mammi, Italian frittata, Greek lamb on the spit, German eggs in green sauce, Polish mazurek, and so on;
- an egg fight;
- a woven wicker Easter basket full of eggs, sausages, salt, horseradish and bread to be blessed with Holy water;
- decorations with pussy willows, daffodils, suger lamb and bunny;
- pour water on women or smack with birch twiggs on Easter Monday;
- dance macabre;
- watch witches flying;
- engage in a solemn procession;
New life, new beginning. Happy Easter!
