Midsummer celebrations – what’s your style?

The 21st of June marks the a summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. The day is longer the further North you are, with 24 hours of daylight in the North Pole and 24 hours of darkness in the South Pole. In London the Sun rises at 0449 and sets at 2115.

Midsummer Eve by Edward Robert HughesThe longest day and the shortest night have been celebrated down the ages among Celts, Slavs and Germans with dance, music and singing. It was a celebration of fire and water, the Sun and the Moon, fertility and love.
