Your time in a square

These days I have loads of work and plans in different areas. Some of them are urgent, some not but still need to be done. Some work is for this website, some for myself, my hobby, my future plans, friends or family. Everyday something new pops up and I can get confused and feel little bit lost. But I’ve found a way to organise myself. It’s called a ’quadrant’.
The main idea is just to put down all the things ‘to do’ in four groups depending on importance and urgency. Have a look at it.

In each square I write down all the things I need to do. But the great thing about this quadrant is that you prioritate and segregate all the tasks in different groups so you first go to ones which are ‘urgent’ and  ‘important’. Doing so you can’t miss any tasks, you can’t be late with any payments, you can’t forget about any favour your friends asked you for.

In his book ‘First Things First’, Steven Covery gives a deeper explanation on what is the purpose of using quadrant system in managing your time. Also, there are few other chapters on how to stay focused on your goals and values in every day life.

I found a nice video talking about this as well, check it out.
